Pneumatic Automation Products Giant Joins Hands with Chinese University

The world's largest pneumatic automation products manufacturer, the SMC Corporation, inaugurated a jointly-run technical center in Shanghai on Tuesday with Shanghai Jiaotong University.

The world's largest pneumatic automation products manufacturer, the SMC Corporation, inaugurated a jointly-run technical center in Shanghai on Tuesday with Shanghai Jiaotong University.

This is the fifth technical center established in China by the Japan-based multinational.

Shanghai Jiaotong University, well-known in China for its research in pneumatics, will collaborate with the company to develop new technologies and products and to help resolve technical problems as they arise.

SMC has established four other technical centers with academic institutions in China, namely, with Qinghua University and Beijing University of Science and Engineering in Beijing, with Harbin Polytechnical University in northeast China's Heilongjiang province and with Nanjing University of Science and Engineering ineast China's Jiangsu province.

SMC Corporation, founded in 1959, boasts annual sales of 1.08 billion US dollars.
