Japan Not to Issue Visa for Lee Teng-hui's Visit

Japan told Lee Teng-hui via his agent Wednesday it will not authorize the issuance of a visa for a possible visit to the country, Japanese senior Vice Foreign Minister Tetsuro Yano said Thursday, according to Kyodo report.

Japan told Lee Teng-hui via his agent Wednesday it will not authorize the issuance of a visa for a possible visit to the country, Japanese senior Vice Foreign Minister Tetsuro Yano said Thursday, according to Kyodo report.

Speaking at a news conference, Yano cited as a reason, "Should there be (another) visa application, it would be difficult to see it as a private visit to Japan by a private person, given the rancor."
