China's Shipbuilding Company Aims High

The China State Shipbuilding Corp.(CSSC) is exercising its muscles in an ambitious bid to become the leader of the world's shipbuilding industry in 2021, thus making China the largest shipbuilder in the world.

The China State Shipbuilding Corp.(CSSC) is exercising its muscles in an ambitious bid to become the leader of the world's shipbuilding industry in 2021, thus making China the largest shipbuilder in the world.

Chen Xiaojin, general manager of CSSC, said Saturday that at present China's shipbuilding industry is facing many favorable conditions for development, citing the fact that ships are in great demand both on domestic and overseas markets, the flourishing oceanic economy around the world and a series of preferential policies the Chinese government has adopted for the development of the industry.

To reach this goal, Chen said, his company, the biggest in China, would build five shipbuilding bases, develop diverse businesses and explore overseas markets.
