"To have the champion of a century here will add to the great honor of history that Afghanistan has," said Karzai who put a Chapan, Afghan traditional coat, on the former boxing champion.

Ali, who arrived in Kabul on Sunday noon for a two-day trip, will visit a girls' school and a women's bakery in the capital city on Monday, seeking to focus greater international attention on the ongoing reconstruction needs of Afghanistan.

He will also meet young athletes in one of the city's sporting clubs and hold talks with representatives of the international donor community in Afghanistan.
