China Mobile's GPRS subscribers can now use their cell phones even when they are abroad. China Mobile and the largest US telecom service provider AT&T Wireless have just signed a contract to provide international roaming services to their GPRS network subscribers.

With the official launching of the service on December 15, GPRS subscribers in both China and the US will be able to use their cell phones not only for verbal communication, but also for Internet connections, emailing, and short messaging. Currently, more than 150 mobile phone service providers worldwide have launched the GPRS network.

China Mobile's launch of such services is the future growth point of China's mobile services. At the same time, it is also the core business in which China Mobile is competing with China Unicom's CDMA network.
