Chinese strongmen Chen Chufu and Zhang Guozheng swept the men's 69kg class snatch, jerk and total golds at the weightlifting world championships in WARSAW on Thursday evening.

After the competitions, China has collected 14 gold medals at the 72nd men's and 15th women's world weightlifting championships in Warsaw so far. The DPR Korea has clinched the other four of the 18 golds produced now.

Chen, 22, lifted 150kg, 155kg and 157.5kg in his first, second and third attempt to claim the snatch title.

Zhang, 28, took the silver by snatching 150kg, 155kg in his first and second attempt but failed to hoist 157.5kg in the third attempt.

In the clean and jerk competition, Bulgarian Galabin Boevski, who set the world record of 196.5kg at the Sydney Olympics, stunned the spectators by failing in all the three attempts on 187.5kg and 192.5kg.

Boevski's lackluster performance changed the competition to a duel between the two Chinese athletes, Chen and Zhang.

Chen, who is not as strong as Zhang in the jerk, lifted 177.5kg,182.5kg and 187.5kg in his three attempts.

After jerking 185kg in his first attempt, Zhang, champion of the total at the Busan Asian Games, tried the 192.5kg in his second but failed.

However, Zhang made it in his third and last attempt, not only taking the gold of the jerk but also claiming the title of the total.
