Eastern China City Attracts International Investors

Representatives of the Jiujiang city government and some big-name domestic and foreign enterprisessigned six investment contracts Friday, which involve 1.75 billionyuan (211 million US dollars) in such fields as textiles, trade, entertainment, satellite equipment and industrial zone infrastructure.

Representatives of the Jiujiang city government and some big-name domestic and foreign enterprisessigned six investment contracts Friday, which involve 1.75 billionyuan (211 million US dollars) in such fields as textiles, trade, entertainment, satellite equipment and industrial zone infrastructure.

At an international investment promotion held in Beijing Friday, Japanese Mitsubishi Chemical Industries, Ltd., LG Electronics Ltd.of the Republic of Korea, Japanese Suzuki Co., and some other industry giants from Germany, the United States and Singapore discussed prospects for investment and cooperation in Jiujiang, Jiangxi Province in east China.

With a geographic area of 18,800 square kilometers and a population of 4.5 million, Jiujiang City is located at the juncture of the Yangtze River, the Beijing-Kowloon Railway and Poyang Lake, and borders Hunan, Hubei and Anhui provinces.

Experts are optimistic about Jiujiang's development, because itenjoys many scenic spots, geographical advantages, convenient transportation and abundant mineral and farm resources.

Jiujiang now has well-developed chemical, textile, constructionmaterial, machinery and electronics industries. It is considered the regional logistics base for the surrounding provinces, according to sources with the city government.
