Wang Bomin, Fine Art Historian, Honored

Over 200 Chinese and foreign guests gathered Sunday to celebrate the 80th birthday and the 60th anniversary of the formation of the art circle of Wang Bomin, a noted Chinese fine art historian.

Over 200 Chinese and foreign guests gathered Sunday to celebrate the 80th birthday and the 60th anniversary of the formation of the art circle of Wang Bomin, a noted Chinese fine art historian.

The celebration took place in Hangzhou, the provincial capital of Zhejiang Province, in east China, and the participants included artists, educators and scholars.

Wang, a tenured professor and doctoral tutor at the Chinese Academy of Fine Art, is known for his research in the fields of poetry, calligraphy and paintings.

Since the 1950s, the scholar has published many history books on fine art including "The General History of Chinese Fine Art (Eight Volumes)", the largest of its kind in the country.

Many of his works have been translated into English, French, Japanese and Korean and have been published abroad.
