PLA Garrison Troops in HK Conduct Annual Rotation

The garrison troops of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) stationed in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region conducted its fifth annual troop rotation Monday since it assumed Hong Kong's defense responsibility on July1, 1997.

The garrison troops of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) stationed in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region conducted its fifth annual troop rotation Monday since it assumed Hong Kong's defense responsibility on July1, 1997.

The rotation involved ground, navel and air forces, the size of which remained unchanged in both personnel and weaponry after the rotation, according to Colonel Feng Wei, spokesman for the PLA garrison troops in Hong Kong.

Feng noted that the rotated staff, during their stay in Hong Kong, had made due contributions to Hong Kong's stability and prosperity.

They also extended their thanks to Hong Kong people for the latter's support and care towards the PLA troops garrisoned in Hong Kong.

The successors of the rotated staff have pledged to continue toabide by laws and make contributions to safeguarding the long-term stability and prosperity of Hong Kong, the spokesman said.

The rotation was carried out in accordance with the Garrison Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region which stipulates a personnel rotation system for garrison troops.
