CPC Official Meets Thai Political Party Leaders

Cai Wu, visiting deputy head of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s Central Committee, met with three Thai political party leaders separately on Monday in Bangkok.

Cai Wu, visiting deputy head of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC)'s Central Committee, met with three Thai political party leaders separately on Monday in Bangkok.

During the meetings, Cai briefed the Thai political party leaders about the major achievements of the recent 16th CPC National Congress and the blueprint set at the conference for China's development in the next 20 years.

He said China will continue to adopt an independent and peaceful foreign policy, developing closer ties with all other countries in the world and contributing to regional peace, stability and development.

Cai also introduced the Chinese government's policy of "one country, two systems and peaceful reunification" on the Taiwan issue when meeting with the Thai political party leaders.

Korn Dabbaransi, leader of the Chart Pattana Party and deputy premier of Thailand, told Cai that relations between China and Thailand are one of the top priorities of Thailand's foreign policy and the Thai government will always stick to "one China" principle.

He said the two countries have very close economic ties and he hoped to see further development of bilateral trade relations under the framework of establishing a free-trade area between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Chuan Leekpai, leader of the Democrat Party and a former premier, congratulated Cai for the great success achieved at the recent 16th CPC National Congress.

He told the CPC official that he believed the new generation ofCPC leaders will guide all Chinese people to realize their lofty development goals.

Banharn Silpa-archa, leader of the Chart Thai Party and also a former premier, told Cai that his party is going to keep good relations with the CPC and stick to the "one China" principle.

Cai represented the CPC to attend the 2nd International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) here between Nov. 22and Nov. 24 and is currently paying a one-day visit to Thailand before leaving here for the Philippines Tuesday.
