Chinese Premier Meets Austrian Vice Chancellor

China is willing to cooperate more with Austria on the economy, culture, education, public service and sports, Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji said Monday in Beijing.

Premier Zhu Meets with Austrian Vice Chancellor
China is willing to cooperate more with Austria on the economy, culture, education, public service and sports, Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji said Monday in Beijing.

Zhu made the remarks in a meeting with Austrian Vice Chancellorand Federal Minister for Public Service and Sports Susanne Riess-Passer, who headed a delegation visiting China at the invitation of the Ministry of Personnel.

The premier said since China and Austria established diplomatic relations 31 years ago, bilateral ties have developed smoothly and leaders of the two countries have exchanged close visits and contacts.

He said the vice chancellor's current visit will be sure to boost economic cooperation between the two countries.

Riess-Passer said Austria also treasured its friendly cooperative ties with China, and is willing to strengthen cooperation in trade, human resource development, public service reform, sports and environment protection.

She thanked China for sending two pandas as gifts to the Austrian people.

The Austrian vice chancellor on Sunday also met with Zeng Qinghong, a newly-elected Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
