Chinese, Burundian Defense Ministers Hold Talks

China's Defense Minister Chi Haotian and his Burundian counterpart Vincent Niyungeko expressed the hope of consolidating the friendly cooperative ties between the armed forces of China and Burundi, during their talks in Beijing Tuesday.

China's Defense Minister Chi Haotian and his Burundian counterpart Vincent Niyungeko expressed the hope of consolidating the friendly cooperative ties between the armed forces of China and Burundi, during their talks in Beijing Tuesday.

Chi, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China and a state councilor, said China appreciates the firm support of the Burundi government on the one-China principle and human rights issue.

As an important part of bilateral ties, military ties between the two countries have developed satisfactorily, Chi said, stressing that China's armed forces values boosting military relations with their Burundian counterparts and are keen to further exchanges and cooperation.

Niyungeko said the Burundi government values its friendly and cooperative ties with China. With their long-term friendly cooperation, the two countries share common ground on many international affairs and support each other.

The Burundi government will consistently support China on issues of human rights and Taiwan, he said.
