The South Korean Ministry of National Defenses General Chang Kwang-il said Wednesday DPRK accepted a proposal to restart mine-clearing operations at the demilitarized zone on Thursday. He also said that there were still issues to clear with regard to inspections, but these would be discussed after the clearance in the east and west regions, which will be completed by December 10.

A government official said if mine clearing continues smoothly it would be possible to connect cross-border railways and roads by the end of the year after inspections. Clearing had been suspended due to procedural differences in the inspection process.
