A seminar on the past and future of the Sino-Japanese economic and technological cooperation was held Friday in Beijing.

Minister of Science and Technology Xu Guanhua and Vice-Ministerof Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Long Yongtu spoke highlyof the achievements China and Japan have made in technological coopeation and trade in the past 20 years.
Some 450 people attended the seminar, jointly sponsored by the Chinese
Ministry of Science and Technology
, the Chinese
Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation
, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
JICA provides economic and technical aid to other countries by providing free or low-interest funds. The agency has good relations with the Chinese Science and Technology Ministry and theMinistry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and has played an important role in promoting Sino-Japanese economic and technical cooperation.
