Blast Suspects Arrested in Kenya Include Pakistanis, Somalis: CNN

The 12 suspects of a hotel explosion in Kenyan city of Mombasa, who were arrested by police, included six Pakistanis, four Somalis, a Spaniard and a US citizen,CNN reported on Friday.

Meanwhile, according to Kenyan Police Commissioner Philemon Abongo on Friday, police had also identified the owner of the car that was used by the five terrorists who attempted to down the Israeli airliner carrying 265 passengers and crew from Mombasa to Tel Aviv.

The terrorists fled from the scene but left behind two SAM 7 missile launchers. The plane narrowing escaped the attack when it took off from Moi International Airport.

In the suicidal car bomb attack on an Israeli-owned hotel 30 km from Mombasa, 16 people were killed, including three Israelis.

On Friday, the Israeli government sent planes to Kenya to evacuate more than 270 nationals back to Israel in a night-long operation that involved six military aircraft, witnesses at airport said.

The bodies of the three dead Israelis, an man and two children, were also taken away.
