CPC Senior Official Meets Venezuelan Guests

Wu Guanzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met Saturday with a delegation from the Movimien to V Republica (MVR) of Venezuela, headed by its political director Rafael Correa.

Wu Guanzheng Meets Venezuelan Guests
Wu Guanzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met Saturday with a delegation from the Movimien to V Republica (MVR) of Venezuela, headed by its political director Rafael Correa.

Wu said the China-Venezuela ties have grown smoothly since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1974. Recent years have witnessed frequent exchanges of high-level visits, enhanced mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.

In 2001, Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Venezuelan PresidentHugo Chavez Frias exchanged visits and set up a strategic partnership for common development in the new century, thus pushing forward the further development of bilateral relations, Wusaid.

Both developing countries, China and Venezuela are faced with the common task of maintaining peace and development, Wu said. China is ready to join efforts with Venezuela in promoting new development of bilateral relations in the new century.

Wu spoke highly of the friendly relations between the CPC and the MVR, saying that the CPC is willing to consolidate and developits friendly relations of cooperation with the MVR on the principle of independence, full equality, mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.

The CPC is also willing to share with the MVR the experience ingoverning the country, increase mutual understanding and friendship and promote the sound development of state-to-state relations, he said.

Briefing the guests on domestic situation, Wu said that the recently-concluded 16th CPC National Congress is a "very important" meeting held in the new century and people all over the country are studying and implementing the spirit of the meeting so as to forge ahead with reforms and opening and the cause of building socialism with Chinese characteristics in an all-round way.

Extending congratulations on the success of the congress, Correa said the MVR and the CPC have same or similar ideals and objectives in striving for national prosperity and the well-being of the people.

He said his party hoped to learn from the experience of the CPCin leading the drive of reform and opening-up and modernization
