China Telecom Giant Sets up Guangdong Branch

China Netcom Corporation Group (CNC), the country's third largest telecommunications company, Monday set up a branch in Guangdong province, south China.

China Netcom Corporation Group (CNC), the country's third largest telecommunications company, Monday set up a branch in Guangdong province, south China.

The new Guangdong Netcom Corporation, with the registered capital of 500 million yuan (60 million US dollars), also began operation Monday.

Leng Rongquan, CNC's executive vice-president, said that the establishment of the Guangdong branch was the result of the company's implementation of the State Council's reforms of the telecom sector as well as a strategic move in the company's expansion plan.

CNC provides a full spectrum of services and solutions to meet the broadband telecommunications needs of businesses and individuals. Its core business includes providing Internet broadband access and integrated telecom services to residential and corporate clients, and building the infrastructure for China'snew economy.

CNC holds 16.78 percent share of China's domestic telecom market and 34 percent of the fixed telephone market.
