Hong Kong billionnaire businessman Lin Hanlie has been shot dead in downtown Hong Kong's Zhonghuan Square. Police Monday returned to the scene of the crime, which carries all the hallmarks of a cross-border murder.

Head of Hong Kong security Yieliu Shuyi says this type of crime is rare, and will not affect the SAR's stability or society.

Police are cooperating with the mainland. They are investigating several potential motives, including personal feuds and money disputes.

Huang Chengrong, an expert from the City University of Hong Kong, believes the plot was meticulously orchestrated by a lone gunman with nerves of steel. This combination probably marks the killer out as being a professional from abroad.

Experts call on Hong Kong Police to cooperate with the mainland and neighboring countries, in order to eliminate this kind of crime.

54-year-old Lin Hanlie made a small fortune with toy chain Lucky Lam International, and then made a bigger one in real estate. In recent years he was involved in a high-profile 24 million-dollar dispute with a golf business. (CRI News)
