Moscow Congratulates Shanghai for Winning World Expo Bidding

On Tuesday night the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that "there was nothing to be ashamed of losing to a decent competitor." Russian diplomats stressed that "China was our great neighbor, strategic partner and a partner in many important areas and we had to congratulate it on a victory."

Moscow was not upset because of losing to Shanghai the competition for the right to hold the World universal EXPO-2010 exhibition.

On Tuesday night the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that "there was nothing to be ashamed of losing to a decent competitor." Russian diplomats stressed that "China was our great neighbor, strategic partner and a partner in many important areas and we had to congratulate it on a victory." The Foreign Ministry stated that "we accumulated useful experience in the course of promotion of the EXPO-2010 project which we were confident would be required in future." According to the preliminary information, Chinese city of Shanghai won the tender to hold the World universal EXPO-2010 exhibition.

The voting procedure of the jury of the International Bureau of Exhibitions consisted of four rounds.

Poland, Mexico and Russia were consequentially eliminated in the first, second and third rounds.

Official voting results will be made public on Tuesday around 19.00 Moscow time.
