Eight thousand winter coats for police donated by the Chinese government were handed over Wednesday to the Afghan Ministry of Interior in Kabul.

Taj Mohammad Khan Wardak, Afghan minister of interior, expressed his thanks in the hand-over ceremony to the Chinese government. He said that China was a longtime friend of Afghanistan and the relationship between the two countries continued to develop during the Afghan Interim Authority and the Transitional Authority.

"Afghanistan would take effective efforts to fight against international terrorism," said the minister.

Sun Yuxi, Chinese ambassador in Kabul, said, "China and Afghanistan are good neighbors. The cooperation and communion of our two countries to fight against terrorism is significant to thesecurity of the region and international community. "

The assistance was airlifted to Kabul several days ago. The Chinese government donated 20,000 sets of suits and boots for Afghan police in August.
