Bomb Material Found in Seoul Department Store

South Korean police rushed Thursday to a department store cinema in Guro-gu, southwestern Seoul, and found a suspicious looking box with bomb material in it.

South Korean police rushed Thursday to a department store cinema in Guro-gu, southwestern Seoul, and found a suspicious looking box with bomb material in it.

According to national news agency Yonhap News, the suspicious box contained a timer and detonator, but without blasting powder. That is why it have not exploded, the police was quoted by Yonhap as saying.

The police dispatched a bomb squad right after receiving report from an employee of the department store to check the box, reported Yonhap.

The female employee who reported the situation said that she received a phone call from an unknown man saying an explosive had been placed inside the department store, said the Yonhap.

Hundreds of customers were evacuated before the police squad began their operation.
