Three persons were found killed in the bomb blast at the Macedonian consulate in Pakistan's port city of Karachi late Wednesday night, a news dispatch reaching Islamabad said on Thursday.

A local police source was quoted as saying that the dead, all Pakistani, had been tied up and killed before the explosion, with the throats of two of the victims had been slit.

Police also said one of those killed was a security guard, yet there were no indications as to the identities of the other two, a man and a woman.

Investigations are underway to find out who are behind the bomb blast. The provincial chief of the police described the incident as an act of terrorism.

Karachi had been hit by series of violence incidents against westerners this year.

A car-bomb in May killed 11 French nationals and three Pakistanis. Another car-bomb in June outside the US consulate left 12 Pakistanis dead.

Gunmen killed seven Pakistani Christians at a charity in Karachi in September. The American journalist Daniel Pearl was also kidnapped in the city in January and was killed later.
