US President Meets Kenyan, Ethiopian Leaders

US President George W. Bush on Thursday met with visiting Kenyan President Daniel arap Moi and Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi to discuss how to fight terrorism and cooperate in other areas.

US President George W. Bush on Thursday met with visiting Kenyan President Daniel arap Moi and Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi to discuss how to fight terrorism and cooperate in other areas.

Welcoming the two African leaders at the White House, Bush tookthe chance to express his condolences to the victims of a terrorist attack which took place in Kenya last week.

Ten Kenyans and three Israelis were killed in the bombing of anIsraeli-owned hotel in Kenya's Mombasa on Nov. 28.

"Our country mourns the loss of life in Kenya, the tragedy thatbefell your country as a result of killers trying to terrorize freedom-loving people," Bush said to Moi in the joint appearance with the press.

He said that the United States will share intelligence with Kenya and help hunt down the killers.

Speaking to reporters later Thursday, White House spokesman AriFleischer said the three leaders discussed cooperation in the war against terror and regional issues involving security in the Horn of Africa..

During the one-hour meeting, they also discussed the HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa and the food crisis that is affecting areas in the region, Fleischer said.
