Chinese Embassy in India Follows Closely Murdered Taiwanese Woman Case

A woman from China's Taipei was murdered in Udaipur city, Rajasthan State of India on December 3. The Chinese Embassy in India paid high attention to the case and immediately sent staff to the scene to find out related information and made representation to the Indian authorities concerned.

A woman from China's Taipei was murdered in Udaipur city, Rajasthan State of India on December 3. The Chinese Embassy in India paid high attention to the case and immediately sent staff to the scene to find out related information and made representation to the Indian authorities concerned.

As learned, the woman, 35, was named Li Jingyi. She started off from Taiwan for tour to India on November 14, and arrived at the city together with an Indian man on December 1. But two days later she was found murdered in a hotel room by an attendant at noon, while her companion had escaped.

On the same night, the Chinese Embassy in India heard of the incident from the local police. The next morning, officials with the embassy left for the locality, and met with the policemen in charge, listening to their account about the details of the case. Meanwhile, the officials requested the Indian authorities concerned to take good care of the victim's remains and bring the murderer to justice as soon as possible.

The Chinese Embassy notified Li's relatives of the above-said information vie appropriate channel on the night of December 4, who will go to India to handle funeral affairs within days. The embassy officials also noted that they would continue to give Li's relatives necessary assistance.

On Thursday morning, the embassy was informed by the Indian police that the Indian man accompanying Li had been arrested.
