Citizens of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong Province in south China, can more easily access government information since the municipal government launched an official website in late November.

Netizens can access all departments of the municipal government by clicking on links on its home page to get information, raise proposals and suggestions, or lodge complaints against government work, said He Wu'ai, head of the government office in charge of the website.

There are four main categories -- information on government affairs, on the city's economy, on residents' daily lives and for the press.

"The government will publicize policies and regulations on the website so residents can get it as soon as possible and those fromoutside can also get information about our city," He said.

There is also the possibility for citizens to make requests andgive advice online.

The website also allows different government departments to handle some affairs online, which has improved efficiency, He said.
