International Islamic Conference to be Held in Sri Lanka
An international Islamic Conference under the theme Justice and World Peace will be held in Colombo, capital of Sri Lanka, on Dec. 18 and Dec. 19, the official Daily News said on Thursday.

The conference is sponsored by Motamar Alam AL Islami, an organization based in Karachi, Pakistan and organized by the Sri Lanka Islamic Center.
Sri Lanka's Minister of Western Region Development M.H. Mohamed,who is also the chairman of the Sri Lanka Islamic Center and the Senior Vice President of the World Muslim Congress, said the visitof the delegates reinforces the trust and confidence placed in thestability in the war-torn country.
The government and the Tamil rebels have agreed to share power under a federal system during the third round of peace talks concluded last Thursday in Norwegian capital Oslo.
The Tamil rebels have been fighting against government forces since 1983 in the north and east of the country for an independentTamil homeland. Over 64,000 people have been killed in the brutal ethnic conflict.
