China Democratic League Holds 9th National Congress

The China Democratic League, one of China's non-communist parties, began its 9th national congress in Beijing Friday.

The China Democratic League, one of China's non-communist parties, began its 9th national congress in Beijing Friday.

The delegates will hear deliberate a report of the party's 8th central committee, adopt the revised party constitution and elect its 9th central committee, while studying Deng Xiaoping theory and the important thought of "Three Represents."

Ding Shisun, executive chairman of the presidium, delivered there port on behalf of the party's 8th central committee. He said steadfastly supporting the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was the party's fundamental political principle.

The CPC Central Committee and other non-communist parties sent congratulatory messages to the congress commending the league for its contribution to national development.
