40 Killed in Road Accident in Nigeria
At least 40 people have been killed in a road accident in Nigeria's southeast state of Akwa Ibom, local media reported on Sunday.

Nigeria
's southeast state of Akwa Ibom, local media reported on Sunday.
The reports said the tragedy occurred at the weekend in Mbo local government area when a petrol tanker filled with oil rushed into the populous Ibaka beach market after failing to negotiate a turn in the road.
It was reported that most of the dead were school children and babies, who were trapped inside the houses the fire engulfed because most buildings in the area were makeshift structure built with mud walls and thatched roofs.
The poor condition of roads, over-speeding, over-loading and reckless driving are blamed to the main cause of the frequent roadaccidents in the country.
According to official figures, about 7,770 people were killed in nearly 13,000 road accidents in 2001.
