FM Commissioner Vows to Facilitate Macao's Overseas Links

Wan Yongxiang, special commissioner of Foreign Ministry in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), vowed here Monday to create more favorable conditions for Macao's overseas exchanges.

Wan Yongxiang, special commissioner of Foreign Ministry in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), vowed here Monday to create more favorable conditions for Macao's overseas exchanges.

At a reception to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, Wan said, "We will continue to implementin a strict way the 'One Country, Two Systems' principle, adhere to the Basic Law and cement and develop the sound cooperative relations with the SAR government."

The FM commissioner said his office will handle diplomatic affairs related to the Macao SAR appropriately, in a flexible and pragmatic way.

Arriving in Macao just a few months ago, Wan said the SAR has left him a "good and deep" impression, citing that Macao, though small in size and not so many in population, is a unique city witha blend of the East and West.

Macao is presenting the world the image of a stable, harmonious,developing and open SAR, he said.

Over the past three years, the FM commissioner's office has helped the SAR government officials to attend 50 international conferences as members of the Chinese government delegations. So far, 40 countries have signed visa-free agreements with the Macao SAR.
