Chinese Shooters Eye 10 More Olympic Berths

China is determined to book more than 10 berths in 2004 Athens Olympic Games shooting events in theyear of 2003, a senior officer of Chinese shooting team said on Tuesday.

China is determined to book more than 10 berths in 2004 Athens Olympic Games shooting events in theyear of 2003, a senior officer of Chinese shooting team said on Tuesday.

Xu Haifeng, the head coach of the Chinese national team, said that his sharpshooters will grasp at least 10 berths for the Athens Olympic in a series international tournaments in 2003.

"We had won 16 berths in 2002," said Xu, "And we are planning to win 10 more in 2003. So our total berths will reach 26, which is one of the best results in the recent years."

According to Xu, China has booked all three berths in six events like women's sports pistol, and two berths in three other events.

But in six other events like men's double-trap, China got nothing, said Xu.

"Our main tasks in 2003 will be fighting for the berths in those events in which we got nothing this year." said Xu.

"Twenty-six berths will be acceptable, but I think we will get an even better results, such as 28 berths." said Xu.
