Senior CPC Official Meets Mauritanian Delegation

Jia Qinglin, a senior Communist Party of China official, met in Beijing Wednesday with a Mauritanian delegation headed by Louleid Ould Weddad, general secretary of the Mauritanian Democratic and Socialist Republic Party (DSRP).

Jia Qinglin, a senior Communist Party of China official, met in Beijing Wednesday with a Mauritanian delegation headed by Louleid Ould Weddad, general secretary of the Mauritanian Democratic and Socialist Republic Party (DSRP).

Jia, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureauof the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee,said the peoples of China and Mauritania trusted, supported and helped eachother after the two countries forged diplomatic ties. Their friendly and cooperative relationship had made steady progress in the political, trade, cultural and health areas.

China thanked Mauritania for its long-term adherence to the One-China policy and its support for China's peaceful reunification, Jia said.

China was willing to work with Mauritania to promote bilateral ties to a higher level, he said.

Jia said the CPC and the DSRP, both ruling parties, should shoulder the task of developing the national economy and improvingpeople's lives.

The CPC hoped to continue boosting exchanges and cooperation with the DSRP for the further growth of bilateral ties, he said.

He also briefed the delegation on the 16th CPC National Congress and the situation in China.

Weddad hailed the successful conclusion of the 16th CPC National Congress and the friendship between both parties and countries, as well as the mutual support between the two countrieson international affairs.

He said that the DSRP was willing to boost cooperation with theCPC for the growth of party-to-party and state-to-state ties.
