Japanese Auto Giant Confident in Chinese Market

Japan-based Mitsubishi Motors Corporation expressed strong confidence in China's auto market in Shanghai Thursday.

Japan-based Mitsubishi Motors Corporation expressed strong confidence in China's auto market in Shanghai Thursday.

Hideyasu Tagaya, corporate general manager for the Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Africa Office, said Mitsubishi has an ambitious goal which consists of getting 50 percent of China's jeep market.

Mitsubishi also promoted its new models, including the SUV, the PAJERO and the PAJERO SPORT in Shanghai.

According to Hideyasu, Mitsubishi signed a technology introduction agreement with Beijing Jeep Co., Ltd. in June.

Beginning next March, the PAJERO SPORT will be produced and sold by the Beijing Jeep Co., Ltd.

Hideyasu said Mitsubishi hopes to sell 6,000-7,000 PAJEROs and about 10,000 PAJERO SPORTs in China annually.
