Some 75 newlywed couples from the Chinese mainland vowed Friday their unalterable oath of marriage at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, adding a touch of romance and novelty to their tour of Hong Kong.

Among the happy couples, 38 came from east China on a "Rose Wedding" tour, while the other 37 came from the neighboring Guangdong Province on a "Lily Marriage Pledge- A romantic Tour."

Cantonese pop singer Richie Jen witnessed the wedding ceremony,during which he sent his blessings to the newlyweds and posed for a photograph with each couple.

Organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), the ceremony is part of the program " Hong Kong Winterfest" to further promote Hong Kong as a romantic honeymoon destination for mainland travelers.

After the wedding ceremony, the couples were invited to attend the launch of the City of Life Street Carnival, one of the highlights of "Hong Kong Winterfest," which is also organized by the HKTB to celebrate the festive season.

Hong Kong is becoming an increasingly popular honeymoon destination for Chinese inlanders. To attract more newlyweds to Hong Kong, the HKTB initiated the annual "Rose Wedding" in 2000, whose popularity has been on a constant rise.
