The
Beijing
port has sharply shortened the time it takes for goods to pass through from an average of 23 hours to 12 hours.
The Port authorities kicked up a speeding-up project in June tocut the time in half,
Wu Yi
fu, director of Beijing Port Office, said.
Taking Beijing Air Port as an example, Wu said some key enterprises who enjoy all sorts of convenient services in the portneed only spend four to eight hours to import goods which are fresh or for fast consumption and only two to three hours on average to export them.
While the clients benefit from the port's improved efficiency and environment, the volume of imports and exports through the port has been increasing.
According to statistics, more than 38,000 tons of imported goods and more than 47,000 tons of exported goods were dealt with in the first ten months, an increase of 11 and 15 percent respectively.
Wu said Beijing port has lacked direct service for a long time because of its laggard information construction.
Since June this year, the port has introduced measures to shorten the complicated process, added service items and constructed an e-port information desk.
