Gangsters Sentenced to Death in NE China
The ringleader of a mob and two of his followers were sentenced to death by a local court Tuesday in Jilin Province, northeast China.

The ringleader of a mob and two of his followers were sentenced to death by a local court Tuesday in
Jilin
Province, northeast China.
The Tonghua City Intermediate People's Court, delegated by Jilin Provincial Higher People's Court, announced the verdict and approved the execution of Tian Bo, an infamous mobster in Jilin's Meihekou City, and his subordinates Li Jiayong and Xu Chenggui.
The 39-year-old Tian had headed a mob in Meihekou City since 1986 and carried out gun fights for 13 years with another local gang, which was led by Shi Jian.
Tian plotted the ambush of Shi Jian on Aug. 18, 1999, who was shot by Tian's follower Xu Chenggui and seriously injured.
In addition, while running businesses, exploring coal mines andbuilding roads, Tian reaped illegal profits of some 1.78 million yuan (215,000 US dollars) by tax evasion.
Tian and his mob were also involved in drug trafficking, stealing, illegal detention of other people and blackmailing.
