After pulling out from the West Bank town of Bethlehem on the eve of Christmas, the Israeli army reinstated curfew on the town Thursday, local Palestinian residents said.

Palestinians were banned from leaving home, and any one who defied the curfew would be shot, according to the residents.

Under international pressure, Israeli army had temporarily lifted the curfew on the town to allow Christians to attend the midnight mass.
