Vice-Premier Wu Bangguo has urged state-owned enterprises (SOEs) across the country to enhance Partybuilding for new progress in their operations.

Wu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and secretary of the Work Committee of Enterprises of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark at a recent meeting with heads of some large SOEs in Beijing.

To give play to the leading role of Party organizations in SOEsthe mainstay of the Chinese economy, Party building must target atsolving the prominent problems in the reform and development of enterprises, Wu said.

Greater efforts must be made to fight against corruption, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers.

Wu stressed Party building in SOEs must be closely linked with efforts to speed up reform, improve internal management, increase efficiency and sharpen the competitive edge of enterprises, as well as protect and increase the value of state-owned assets.
