Senior Chinese leaders welcomed the coming year of 2003 with a Beijing Opera Monday night in Zhongnanhai, the headquarters of the Chinese government.

Senior Leaders Celebrate New Year with Beijing Opera
Senior Chinese leaders welcomed the coming year of 2003 with a Beijing Opera Monday night in Zhongnanhai, the headquarters of the Chinese government.

Chinese President Jiang Zemin, Vice-President Hu Jintao and other senior officials including Li Lanqing, Wu Bangguo, Jia Qinglin, Zeng Qinghong, Huang Ju, Wu Guanzheng, Li Changchun and Luo Gan watched the performance.

Artists in four generations presented both traditional and new Beijing Opera performance.

After the show, the leaders greeted the performers and took group pictures with them.

The show was jointly organized by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Ministry of Culture, State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, and the administrative bureau under the CPC Central Committee.
