Jiang Congratulates Successful Launch of Spacecraft

Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Jiang Zemin sent a message Monday to related departments, congratulating them on the successful launch of China's fourth unmanned spacecraft, the "Shenzhou IV".

Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Jiang Zemin sent a message Monday to related departments, congratulating them on the successful launch of China's fourth unmanned spacecraft, the "Shenzhou IV".

He said in the message to the General Armament Department of the People's Liberation Army of China and the Aerospace Command and Control Center, that the successful launch of the "Shenzhou IV" on Monday is an historic achievement in China's space industry and a great victory in its reform, opening-up and modernization drive.

He encouraged people concerned to redouble their efforts and work in a pioneering spirit to make more contributions to the peaceful development of the outer space.

China launched the "Shenzhou IV" at 00:40 a.m. (Beijing Time) Monday at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China's Gansu Province.
