Senior Chinese Leaders Attend New Year's Concert

Senior Chinese leaders welcomed the New Year 2003 with a special concert Tuesday night in the Great Hall of the People.

Senior Chinese leaders welcomed the New Year 2003 with a special concert Tuesday night in the Great Hall of the People.

Together with more than 6,000 other members of the audience, Chinese President Jiang Zemin, Vice-President Hu Jintao and other senior officials including Li Lanqing, Jia Qinglin and Li Changchun, watched the performance.

The Beijing Symphony Orchestra and the British Royal Philharmonic Orchestra joined hands to present the New Year Concert.

After the show, the leaders went onto stage to greet the performers and have a group photo taken with them.

The seventh New Year Concert was co-organized by the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Beijing municipal government.
