A first-grade pupil of a Chinese primary school set a world record by winning her most games in a quick-play Chinese chess contest Wednesday in Shantou, against a field of 100.

A first-grade pupil of a Chinese primary school set a world record by winning her most games in a quick-play Chinese chess contest Wednesday in Shantou, against a field of 100.

Chen Yunjia, a six-years-old pupil of the No. 3 Waimalu Primary School won 82 games, drew six and lost 12 of the chess games after a marathon-style play that lasted for more than seven hours.

Chen spent just four minutes for taking her first moves in the games and six minutes for the second moves. But she had to stay longer and longer for the later moves, as she faced increasingly tough challenges as the games went on.

The 100 players on the other side of the tables had been picked up from chess teams of the city's numerous schools, with champion titles out of municipal or district competitions.

The organizers decided to apply to have Chen's feat listed into the Guinness World Records book.
