A ship carrying 70,000 tons of highly flammable gas and oil crashed into the submerged ship Tricolor in the English Channel on Wednesday, according to a SKY News report.

The ship, the Vicky, was the second that collided with the Tricolor since the car transporter sunk in the Channel after a crash two weeks ago.

The Vicky was once stuck on the Tricolor which is lying on its side. It has already come free under rescue effort co-ordinated by French coastguards.

Coastguard of Dover, a port on Eastern coastline of England, said there was a strong smell of fuel at the crash scene but it was not known if the Vicky's load of kerosene was leaking.

The Vicky is moving toward a position a mile off where it will drop anchor, said a spokesman of Dover Coastguard. "There it will be checked to see if there are any holes," he added.

Carrying millions of pounds worth of luxury cars, the Norwegian Tricolor sank in the English Channel on Dec. 14 after colliding with another vessel in thick fog. It had sunk in the busiest part of the shipping lane.

The ship and its 30 million pounds cargo hasn't sunk to the bottom of the sea and is still near shallow water's surface off the coast of Dunkirk, the French port. It was hit on Dec. 16 by the Nicola, a 3,000 ton ship registered in the Dutch Antilles.
