The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) officials on Sunday blasted Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's statement that he has a peace plan based on US President George W. Bush's speech six month ago.

"Sharon's statements are only serving his elections campaign" and he "is trying to bring alternatives to US road map peace plan,"PNA Minister of Information Yasser Abed Rabbo told reporters in theWest Bank city of Ramallah.

Sharon earlier told his cabinet that he did see a "real opportunity" for beginning a diplomatic process along the lines of US President Bush's suggestions six month ago.

Sharon's statements only reveals his intention to continue war and create excuses for it, Abed Rabbo said, adding Sharon also intends to prevent any chance from achieving a peace process that ends up with the establishment of a Palestinian state.

"Sharon's attempts to block the establishment of an independent Palestinian state would fail," Abed Rabbo added.

Nabil Abu Rudeineh, a top aide to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, also said Sharon "is spreading rumors on the collapse of the PNA to serve his election campaign and escape from bribes and scandals in his party."

The Palestinian official stressed that the ties among all the Palestinian political groups and parties are strong and all are heading for a comprehensive dialogue.
