East China's Zhejiang province's revenue topped 100 billion yuan (12 billion US dollars) in 2002, becoming the fourth Chinese province to do so, official sources said.

The other three leading administrative regions are Guangdong province in south China, and east China's Shanghai municipality and Jiangsu province, all coastal areas, the provincial financial department said Thursday.

Zhejiang province had maintained 25 percent growth in revenue during the 1992-2002 period, and its 2002 revenue was approximately 10 times that of 1992.

Such a robust growth rate has been attributed to the rapid and sustained growth of the private sector.
