Chinese Capital Reports Steady Industrial Rise

Industrial enterprises in the Chinese capital achieved 300 billion yuan (36.15 billion US dollars) in total output value last year, up 8.1 percent from 2001.

Industrial enterprises in the Chinese capital achieved 300 billion yuan (36.15 billion US dollars) in total output value last year, up 8.1 percent from 2001.

The Beijing enterprises also created an added industrial value of 82.33 billion yuan (about 9.92 billion US dollars), up 8 percent, said sources at a recent meeting of the Beijing municipalcommission for industry.

According to the sources, 98.2 percent of the enterprises' products were marketed, and the enterprises realized 11.95 billionyuan (about 1.44 billion US dollars) in pre-tax profits in the first 11 months of last year, up 10.8 percent.

The exports of the industrial enterprises last year were expected to hit 4.38 billion US dollars, up 17.2 percent, with machinery and electronic products accounting for 3.5 billion US dollars, up 20 percent, or 63.6 percent of the national capital's total exports, said the sources.
