Xinjiang Elects New Government, People's Congress Chairmen

Abdul'ahat Abdulrixit, of Uygur nationality, was elected chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Thursday.

Abdul'ahat Abdulrixit, of Uygur nationality, was elected chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Thursday.

The election was held at the first session of the 10th regional people's congress.

Ten others were elected vice-chairmen of the regional people's congress.

Meanwhile, Ismail Tiliwaldi, also of Uygur nationality, was elected chairman of the Xinjiang regional people's government.
