China has announced it is taking prompt measures against the possible arrival of cholera from Ivory Coast.
The State Administration of Quality Supervision and Quarantine has issued a circular to protect the safety of Chinese traveling to Ivory Coast.
It asks passengers arriving in China from Ivory Coast to report to exit-entry quarantine authorities provided they have symptoms such as nausea and vomiting.
Passengers traveling to the African country may get relevant information from the quarantine authorities, which will also strictly check vehicles, goods, containers and luggages coming from Ivory Coast.
More than 70 people had contracted the cases of cholera from Dec. 22, 2002 and Jan. 5 this year, with 15 of them dying from the disease, according to a recent World Health Organization report.
