Talks with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on the nuclear crisis were "useful, tightly-scheduled and plentiful", said a Russian envoy in Pyongyang on Tuesday.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Losyukov made the remarks at the Sun An International Airport before his departure for Beijing, winding up his four-day visit to the DPRK.

Losyukov told a press conference that he got to know the situation of the Korean Peninsula and DPRK's views on the nuclear issue through diversified talks with DPRK leader Kim Jong Il and other party, government and military senior officials.

Moscow would make good use of the information he got this time at the international channel, Losyukov added.

Losyukov said he discussed the prospects of and solutions to the nuclear issue with Kim Jong Il, but he declined to give further details about the meeting, only saying he would first report to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Moscow would use multi diplomatic channels with Pyongyang to help Pyongyang and Washington "move toward compromise" , Losyukov was quoted as saying at an earlier date by a source who declined to be identified.

Losyukov has said Moscow doubted the possibility of the signingof non-aggression treaty between the DPRK and the United States, but thought that Pyongyang needs to get a security guarantee from the United States for the security of the Korean Peninsula, the source added.

The DPRK had put forward a non-aggression treaty with the United States to solve the nuclear issue, which was rejected by the latter.

On Sunday, Losyukov delivered a personal letter by Russian President Vladimir Putin on how to resolve the nuclear crisis to Kim Jong Il , Losyukov said, adding that Kim would give his reaction to the message later.

The package proposals put forward by Russia were "good", Kim Jong Il was reportedly as saying. Kim also gave some suggestions to the proposals and expressed his hope to resolve the nuclear issue through a diplomatic way, the source said.

The three-point package proposals include a nuclear-free statuson the Korean Peninsula, security guarantee for the DPRK and resumption of humanitarian assistance and economic aid to the DPRK,

Losyukov, who arrived in Pyongyang on Saturday, was the first foreign politician received by Kim Jong Il since the nuclear crisis erupted last October.
