Macao SAR Chief Executive Visits Zhuhai

Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah ofthe Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) kicked off a one-dayvisit to the neighboring city of Zhuhai on Tuesday.

Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah ofthe Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) kicked off a one-dayvisit to the neighboring city of Zhuhai on Tuesday.

Edmund Ho is scheduled to meet with officials in Zhuhai city government and visit a number of local basic facilities, government sources said.

Francis Tam Pak Yuen, secretary for economy and finance, and AoMan Long, secretary for transport and public works, are included in Edmund Ho's delegation.

After meeting with Guangdong provincial leaders in the capital city of Guangzhou on Jan. 14, the Macao SAR chief executive told the press that he would discuss details related to the establishment of an industrial zone at an area between Macao and Zhuhai, as well as other plans to jointly develop the Hengqin island of Zhuhai, with Zhuhai's leaders.

As the move involves some technical issues, both sides cannot expect a complete agreement to be reached in the following meeting,the chief executive said, but voiced out his belief that the process will be quite smooth and negotiation will not last too long.
