Strong Earthquake Rocks Mexico

An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale rocked Mexico's western state of Colima Tuesday evening, but there were no immediate reports of damage and casualties, the National Seismological Service said.

An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale rocked Mexico's western state of Colima Tuesday evening, but there were no immediate reports of damage and casualties, the National Seismological Service said.

The earthquake, which occurred around 8:11 p.m. local time (0211 GMT Wednesday), was strongly felt in Mexico City.

The earthquake cut power in parts of the capital city, and panicked residents ran out of their homes and buildings.
